Scenes above from the Appalachian Trail, and from our preparation for spelunking in a large cave system on the way home.
Stories from the trip:
"I will never forget the rafting trip on the Ocoee in a Thunderstorm. In the most difficult section used by Olympic kayakers called Godzilla, our raft hit the raft in front of us and got sucked into a curler. Several in our boat spent at least a minute under the water while ropes were thrown to us for pulling us out. After this incredible experience we needed to put back into the water in the same place after which we went through continued class IV whitewater in a deluge so strong at times we could not distinguish the river from the storm - we were essentially rafting blind. We followed that day by mountain biking the following day...you guessed it...in a thunderstorm. We had no idea that our entire trip was essentially occurring in a RAIN FOREST!"
