This year we will explore the vast expanse of the Western Upper Penninsula of Michigan with 5 days of unparalleled beauty, and challenge. So, whether you like beautiful views, climbing, jumping, spelunking, hiking, waterfall exploring, or just camaraderie with outgoing, fun-loving people, there is something for everyone! So come along and you will have joined an elite group and will live your life going forward in a whole new way. Nothing can take these experiences away from you. Cliff jumping day! Upper Sturgeon River Falls, Canyon Falls Roadside Park, Old US Hwy 41, L’Anse and Lower Sturgeon River Falls, Ottawa National Forest, camp at Twin Lakes State Park, Toivola, MI
6 August (Thu) Mines, pines, and falls day! Copper Falls, Delaware (copper) Mine Tour, Estivant Pines Wilderness Nature Sanctuary, camp again at Twin Lakes State Park
7 August (Fri) Mountains and Canyons day! Gogebic Ridge Trail - Old M64 Trailhead, Old M-64, Ontonagon, Porcupine Mountain State Park, swim in Lake Superior, camp at Presque Ilse Campground, 8458 Balsam Dr, Presque Isle, WI
8 August (Sat) Waterfalls day! Great Conglomerate Falls, Black River, Bessemer, Root Beer Falls, F3QC+WJ, Wakefield, find infamous lost waterfall near lake Gogebic, O-Kun-de-kun Falls, north on Hwy 45 8 miles past Bruce Crossing, stay at Imp Lake State Forest, Marion Lake, or Burned Dam State Forest campground (1st come first served)
9 August (Sun) Challenge and awards day! Float Burned Dam with a life vest, final Watercross challenge on Imp Lake, Awards, Extreme Dinner at Golden Corral in Appleton, WI, arrive home late afternoon/early evening
Trip limitations:
Must be at least 8 years old but not older than 15 years old to participate.
(Those 18 years or older desiring to participate as a group leader please contact Kirk Bailey for consideration). Attendee must not be afraid of water, heights, and spelunking, and must be prepared for strenuous physical activity and carrying your own water.
What to bring:
Pair of cheap tennis shoes or water shoes, hiking shoes, shammy or towel, mosquito/black fly & sun protectant, snacks for trip, small hiking backpack, warm weather clothes, rain poncho, jacket or sweatshirt for cool nights, clothes for spelunking (long pants & long sleeve shirt that you can put in a plastic bag after it gets muddy), swim suit (one piece for ladies, please) and travel towel, travel games, bible, wide brim hat, sleeping bag for warm weather, air mattress or sleeping pad, water bottle, energy bars, day pack, flash light with new batteries, beret from past extreme trips, spending money (~$20), camera (opt).
Things that will be provided: Chaperones, recreational equipment, passes/tickets, camping fees, first aid kits, food, food prep, tents, transportation.
